Abstract

This article presents the results of experiments conducted to evaluate the resistance of eggplant varieties and hybrids to Fusarium wilt. The experiments were carried out under artificial infection background conditions using three eggplant varieties (Karlikovyy ranniy 921, Almaz, and Avrora) and two F1 hybrids (Black Pearl F1 and Barselona F1). A highly virulent strain of Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. melongenae was used to establish the infection background. According to the results, the wilt incidence in the Avrora variety ranged from 15.40 to 19.23%, while in the Almaz variety it ranged from 11.54 to 15.40%, and both varieties were classified as moderately resistant. In the Black Pearl F1 and Barselona F1 hybrids, disease development was recorded at relatively low levels of 3.84–5.77%, indicating high resistance. In the Karlikovyy ranniy 921 variety, disease development ranged from 5.77 to 9.60%, and it was also classified as resistant. Based on the obtained results, the Black Pearl F1 and Barselona F1 eggplant hybrids can be recommended for cultivation in household plots and farmer fields due to their resistance (R) to Fusarium wilt disease.
