Abstract
The article examines the economic and environmental efficiency of reducing post-harvest losses of fruit and vegetable products during storage through the use of edible coatings based on chitosan. The relationship between the level of post-harvest losses and the efficiency of land resource utilization is substantiated. Calculations of the economic effect and the conditional savings of land resources are carried out using the example of apple storage in the conditions of the Republic of Uzbekistan. It is established that the application of chitosan-based coatings reduces product losses, increases the volume of marketable output, and enhances the resource efficiency of agricultural production.
