Abstract

This article investigates the effects of saline soils on the macro- and microelement composition of the halophyte plant Portulaca oleracea L., biomass accumulation, productivity, root layer development, salt accumulation, and the dynamics of mineral substance changes in both the plant and soil. The experimental results demonstrated the high productivity of the halophyte (dry matter yield) under strongly saline soil conditions, and also identified the effect of high salt concentrations on the plant’s uptake of nutrients from the soil.
