Abstract
The first detailed study of the insect Galleria mellonella was published 53 years ago by Marston N et al. in 1973 (18), and the larva is now widely used as a model for research purposes in various fields. This protocol describes our experience in rearing G. mellonella caterpillars for experimental models of Beauveria bassiana infection and the effect of different artificial diets on developmental parameters. In this work, we propose a diet composition that has a beneficial effect on the life cycle of G. mellonella by accelerating the larval phase and increasing the weight of the caterpillars.
