Main Article Content
Abstract
Uzbekistan concentrates the core elements of the Aral Basin carbon and degradation agenda: intensive irrigation with secondary-salinization risk (>60% of irrigated land), rangeland degradation, the Aralkum as a regional SDS source, and transformed delta and tugai geosystems. The paper covers soil carbon status, the water–salt–vegetation–carbon cascade, NDC 3.0 policy and implementation barriers, a minimally sufficient MRV framework, and a SLM/CDR portfolio across five landscape scenes. Cross-cutting principle: SOC-oriented targets must not precede stabilization of the baseline landscape nexus.
