Abstract
The article analyzes the state of weed contamination in winter wheat fields using the example of the Chimbay district, which has unique natural and climatic conditions in Northern Karakalpakstan. It has been established that the degree of soil salinity, the sum of effective temperatures, and humidity indicators in the region differ from those in the Central and Southern regions, which directly affects the formation of weed populations. As a result of the research, 52 species of weeds belonging to 15 families and 47 genera were recorded in the district's grain fields. This indicator is 1–11 times lower in terms of species diversity compared to the southern regions of the republic. Additionally, in the distribution of identified weeds by biological groups, annual plants predominated (59.6%), while perennials accounted for 34.6% and biennials for 5.8%.
