Abstract
Pasture degradation is currently one of the major ecological and economic problems in many arid and semi-arid regions. Excessive use of pastures, climate change, soil erosion, and improper management have led to a significant reduction in the natural forage base. This study examines the scientific and practical significance of establishing cultivated pastures based on primary seed production for the restoration of degraded pastures. During the research, perennial cereal and legume forage plants adapted to arid conditions were selected, and technologies for seed production were developed. The results of the study showed that the establishment of primary seed production areas can increase pasture productivity by 2–3 times, improve soil fertility, and restore biodiversity. The obtained results serve as an important scientific basis for the sustainable management and restoration of degraded pastures.
