Abstract

The article presents the results of studies aimed at determining the quality indicators of the greater wax moth (Galleria mellonella) reared on traditional and newly developed nutrient media. It was found that moths reared on the developed diet laid an average of 788 eggs, whereas under the traditional rearing method this indicator was 756 eggs. The proportion of females in the population was also higher in the developed diet group, accounting for 56%, while in the traditional method it was 51%. The male-to-female ratio under the developed diet was 1:1.7, indicating the predominance of females in the population and contributing to increased efficiency of wax moth rearing in biolaboratory conditions.
